About the talk:

AI for Healthcare is booming. The Covid-19 crisis has further fuelled the explosive growth seen by AI-assisted diagnosis, treatment, and epidemiology over the last five years. The human-interpretability of AI solutions, the ability to ask 'why' a particular outcome is reached, is widely regarded as an essential feature for their acceptance into clinical applications.

In this talk, Theodore will discuss his work with EMPAIA, the challenges of making AI "explainable," and their vision for the future of medical XAI.

About our speaker for tonight:

Theodore Evans is a physicist, teacher, and now AI-researcher with the Distributed AI Lab at TU-Berlin. In collaboration with Charité and Fraunhofer MEVIS as part of the EMPAIA project, he works together with pathologists, certifying bodies, and machine learning experts to develop methods that allow medical AI solutions to explain their outcomes in terms that doctors can understand.
