Open Source + LinkedIn: The Power Blend for Your Personal Brand

Details

Two different journeys, one powerful message: your presence as an engineer matters!

In this new session you’ll discover how contributing to open source and sharing your voice on LinkedIn can become a winning formula for building your personal brand, gaining visibility, and opening doors in your career. From your first post to leading a project - it’s time to step into the spotlight.

Session 1: From Noob, to Contributor, to Owner - My Open Source Journey / Shai Mishali

In this talk, I will discuss my transformative journey from exploring a new technology to becoming the sole maintainer of its open-source project and community. I will highlight how open-source involvement has profoundly impacted my personal and professional life (and can for you as well), serving as a catalyst for self-branding, professional growth, leadership development, and thought leadership.

Bio: Shai Mishali is a Staff iOS Engineer at monday.com, as well as an international speaker, and a highly active open-source contributor and maintainer on several high-profile projects - namely, the RxSwift Community and RxSwift projects, but also releases many open-source endeavours around Combine such as CombineCocoa, RxCombine and more. He's a published author, having worked on over 8 different books on various topics related to the Swift eco-system, on topics such as Combine, RxSwift, async/await, and other Advanced Swift topics.

Session 2: Relax, It’s Just Another Algorithm: LinkedIn Posting for Engineers / Eshchar Cohen

This session will show you how to actually get noticed on LinkedIn - not by chasing likes, but by sharing real ideas that build credibility and spark engagement.

You’ll walk away with:

  • Practical tips on what makes posts stand out
  • A clear look at how the LinkedIn algorithm works
  • Techniques to write like a human (not like a bot)
  • And if you’re wondering, “Can’t ChatGPT just do this for me?” - we’ll talk about that too.

If you care about growing your presence and making your voice heard - this session is for you!

Bio: Eshchar Cohen is the Social Media Manager at monday.com, where he leads content and creative strategy across LinkedIn, Instagram, X, and other platforms. Previously, he held social brand roles at AppsFlyer, BBR Saatchi & Saatchi, and Mako. With a background in social, creative & content writing and a love for pop culture, he’s passionate about helping brands and individuals communicate like human beings who are also not boring.
