In-Person Event: NLP With Databricks

Melbourne NLP Meetup is back again, for an in-person event in our usual format: with a presentation and time for casual conversation and refreshments.

Presentation Topic:
In this talk, we will show how to rapidly implement NLP text classification with Databricks, Delta, and Transformers. Free form text data can offer actionable insights unavailable in structured data fields.

An insurance company may leverage its claims adjusters’ notes to understand characteristics of a claim that are otherwise unknowable. An IT division may efficiently analyze support ticket requests to route them to the proper in-depth team. Generating this level of value from free-form text can be challenging but a family of models, referred to as transformer models, provide a powerful toolset that enterprise data science practitioners can easily leverage.

Join this talk, featuring Databricks' resident SSA, Yang Wang, where we'll be providing plenty of demos and example implementations of huggingface Transformer models for text classification tasks that you could easily apply to your own industry.

His recent 6 years working as Solution Architect role in Databricks & Cloudera, and another 6 years as an ML Engineer in Tencent building a large scale training platform for online advertisement to predict click through rate (pCTR).
