What we’re about
Melbourne AfroPlay Collective is a space for families raising Black, African diaspora, Afro-Caribbean, and mixed-race children to come together in community.
We welcome babies, toddlers, kids, and tweens, as well as their parents, carers, aunties, uncles, and chosen family.
We host relaxed and welcoming meetups across Melbourne. AfroPlay is about connection, joy, and raising our children with pride in who they are.
We aim to:
- Build friendships among Black and Brown families in Melbourne
- Celebrate and centre culture, language, and haircare in playful and accessible ways
- Create affirming spaces where our children feel seen and loved
- Offer connection and support for parents raising kids in-between cultures
Everyone from the African diaspora is welcome, including blended families and multi-racial households. If you’re looking for a village, this is a great place to start.
