Scram to Ballan loop - 54km - Intermediate

It’s time to get out into the countryside for some fresh air and wide open skies!

This route starts and finishes from Ballan on mainly sealed roads with moderate hills a few sections of gravel or dirt road through the forest.

Catch the 9.15am train from Southern Cross, arriving 10.20 at Ballan.
Meeting point is the Ballan farmers market (73 Inglis St) for morning tea.

You can take your pick of CWA devonshire tea, bakery treats or dutch pancakes - yum! It’s a pretty small market but there’s live music and hay bales to sit on and a coffee van too.

Pedalling off at 11-ish, we’ll cycle through to Mt Edgerton for picnic lunch at the rec reserve.

From there we’ll cycle around quiet back roads, across ridge lines with great views before plunging into the forest and back to Ballan.

Join in for an end of ride celebration beverage or jump straight back on the train, with services running every 40 minutes.

Please bring your lunch and plenty of snacks and water for the day.
There’s a supermarket in Ballan for extra picnic supplies to supplement what’s on offer at the farmer’s market.

ESSENTIAL ITEMS
Functioning headlight & tail light
Spare tube and a puncture kit
MYKI card, ATM card/cash, basic tools, rain gear, food/snacks, etc

It's your responsibility to check the temperature and distance for the day and carry an appropriate amount of water.

When riding outside suburbia remember that carrying too much water is better than not enough in case circumstances change.

Check Meetup for any changes the day before the ride, as the ride may be cancelled in the event of extreme weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

If you cannot make it to the ride please change your RSVP to 'NO' well before the ride day.
