About us

The Melbourne Catholic Friendship Group (40+) extends a hand of fellowship to those seeking to connect with other Catholics beyond the confines of their local parish. Our aim is to hold both social and faith based events at different venues across Melbourne, where people can get to know one another and form long lasting friendships.

We are also an outward looking group - Christians of other denominations, and people of other faiths or none, are most welcome to join us, and will not be pressured in any way.

Our keynote events are:

  • Attending Mass at a central location, St Francis’ in Lonsdale Street, followed by lunch in the CBD or nearby.
  • The monthly “God and Beer” talks hosted by the Knights of the Southern Cross – these take place at the Notting Hill Pub in the south eastern suburbs.

We also like to support Catholic cultural events and fundraisers, movies with Christian themes, and amateur theatre more generally. Otherwise, we are always welcome to suggestions from our members.

Housekeeping

There are no joining fees, however, we ask for a $5 donation, normally collected at each event. The donation contributes towards payment of the Meetup site used to manage the group.
