The Rise of Immediate Intelligence
Decision making is changing: Apache Druid is a new type of database for creating the next generation of analytics applications that maximise flexible exploration over fresh, fast-arriving data. In this talk, Sergio introduces these new "immediate intelligence" applications, tells the story of Druid's emergence, and describes how data pipelines built with Druid differ from those you may already be familiar with.
Bio:
Sergio Ferragut is a database veteran turned Developer Advocate at Imply. His experience includes 16 years at Teradata in professional services and engineering roles. He has direct experience in building analytics applications spanning the retail, supply chain, pricing optimization, and IoT spaces. Sergio has worked at multiple technology start-ups including APL and Splice Machine where he helped guide product design and field messaging. The speaking topic and content will be the same.
๐ค Mitch Stockdale, Data Engineer at Cuusoo
Deploying Databricks Jobs quickly and easily
Dbx is a CLI extension tool for Databricks that allows you to get up and running with Databricks Jobs quickly, easily, and robustly. This session will talk through and demo dbx and how it can be integrated into both your development and CI/CD workflows when using Databricks.
Over the last 5 years, Mitch has solved problems across different areas of data, from building data ingestion patterns on AWS to visualising and communicating insights with Power BI.
He recently joined Cuusoo as a Data Engineer, helping organisations reimagine the possibilities of data with Databricks and the lakehouse.
Mitch has gained significant experience across tourism, telecommunications, hospitality, and higher education.
Please note that being fully vaccinated and showing a certificate will be a requirement of entry.
Please also note access to the building for the Meetup will be difficult after 6pm.
