We're really excited to announce that MelbJVMs next meetup will be an Intro to Quarkus by Phillip Krüger!
This is our first in person meetup since the pandemic, and we're super excited to host everyone again.
Abstract
Intro to Quarkus
In this talk, Phillip will explain the need for a Kubernetes / cloud native Java framework, and then jump into a demo covering:
- Basic REST application
- Securing the application
- Adding a DB
During the demo, Phillip will also discuss
- The developer experience
- Dev Services and Dev UI
- Continuous Testing
- Blocking and Non-Blocking modes
- Final artifacts running on the JVM and native
- Deploying to Kubernetes
About Phillip Krüger:
Phillip is a Software Engineer working for Red Hat, where he spends most of his time on MicroProfile, SmallRye and Quarkus.
Phillip is an avid presenter and has shared his experiences across global events.
Phillip is a fan of technology, coffee and programming, and loves dogs and music.
