I have a love of jazz and funk as well as world music, blues, and various styles of rock music and am keen to connect with similarly interested folk to see live music around Melbourne and surrounding inner suburbs.
To give you an idea of my tastes some of the concers/gigs I have seen and loved over recent years include esperanza spalding, Herbie Hancock and Marcus Miller, Living Colour, Fantastic Negrito, Nduduzo Makhathini, Ngaiire & MSO, Makaya
McCraven, Kamasi Washington, a whole lot at Womadelaide...
My music tastes extend back to 90s groves and more heavier and rocking styles like Faith No More, Alice in Chains, any funk and ska like sounds that gets me dancing, older jazz through to modern jazz masters. I also love classical indian music and a good kirtan for variety!
I can't get out a lot and do tend to prioritise the international stuff so the success of this group will depend on Members also nominating gigs that they commit to attend and 'host' (coordinating the meet-up spot, being welcoming). I am hoping this will also provide me with new gig opportunities I would not have otherwise known about.
I've put an age range as I am hoping to connect with similarly aged people with shared music tastes that might extend to other shared interest. I won't police this though!
