Japanese Mahjong (Riichi/リーチ麻雀) at Marché Board Game Cafe

Join us for an evening of Japanese Riichi Mahjong at Marché Boardgame Cafe! 😃

When you arrive, be sure to say hello to the host, and let them know your experience level. We have a dedicated table set aside for teaching the game, so don't worry; whether you've never played in-person, not sure of the yaku, or never played at all, everyone is welcome.

The event has limited space, so attendance/RSVPs may be changed around leading up to the event day in order to give both regular players and newcomers a fair chance to play for the night. Be sure to check your RSVPs leading up to the event as you may have been placed on the waitlist.

Upon signup, if you are a new/beginner players, write down what time you intend to arrive. If you are new, please aim to arrive before 6:00 pm to be guaranteed a seat. If you arrive after that time, you may need to sit and watch a game until a space opens up.

Otherwise if you are familiar with the rules and happy to join the regular table shuffled games, please indicate which time slot you would like to register for:

• Group A, Early Birds: 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
• Group B, Night Owls: 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm
• Group C, Marathon: 5:30 pm - 11:00 pm

Tables will be shuffled at around 7:00 pm and 8:30 pm. If you would like to be a part of that shuffle, please aim to be at the venue before those times.

We will have a full round/hanchan timer of 75 minutes, allowing all groups to have a good amount of games played.

If you do not show up on time, your spot may be given to someone on the wait list.

If you do not choose a group, you will be defaulted as an all-night player, which might put you on the wait list!

As always, wait listed attendees are welcome to show up on the day and hope for an available spot!

This event has a small $5 fee, payable on the night. First-time players can attend for free!
