Melbourne Python - October Gather Round

Our monthly meetup has rolled around again!

As the crisp Melbourne air settles in and the chaos of the financial year fades away, why not take a breather and relax? Come say hi and hang out with fellow Python enthusiasts in Melbourne!

This is a group tailored for developers, data scientists, web programmers, and everyone passionate about Python. We're keen to discuss how Python as a versatile language simplifies complexities, cuts down development time, and empowers projects ranging from web development to artificial intelligence.

Our agenda for the evening will be:

• 5:30 - 6pm - Networking, pizza and drinks
• 6:00 - 6:15pm - Welcome and Updates
• 6:15 - 6:45 - Talk 1 by Alan Perkins - Founder @ Profound Information on "Migrating COBOL data to PostgreSQL using Python and Django": This talk will cover the approach and challenges faced in migrating data from a 42 year old COBOL system. The resulting python application processed between 150million and a billion records every day for over four years.
• 6:45 - 7pm - Grab a new drink, meet someone new and get ready for the last talk of the night.
• 7 - 7:30 pm - Talk 2 by Mohammad Abuhassan - Lecturer @ Swinburne University on "Knowledge Graphs and GNNs": The talk will be giving a walkthrough on Graph neural networks and knowledge graphs using python.
• Door closes at 8pm.
