It's time to Make, Create, Innovate - Calling all makers, tinkerers, creators!!!

Details
Who might want to attend - This meetup is open to everyone with an interest in Electronics, Robotics, Home Automation, 3D Printing, Laser Cutting, Amateur Radio, High Altitude Balloons, Space Tech, etc. Makers with interests in Arduino, ESP8266, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, Pi Pico, OrangePi, etc. are invited to bring along their projects, project ideas and come connect with other makers. Get your questions answered, show off the work you are doing and get support to resolve nagging issues.
Our subgroups include -
- Robotics - Our robotics group meets regularly to test out their robot builds, show off new capabilities they put into their bots, etc. The team is currently running a monthly robotics challenge which is open to everyone, so why wait...drop in and join the party.
- Home Automation - The Home Automation group meets twice a month on discord but also runs sessions on different Home Automation tools, capabilities at the monthly events, so drop by and check out what's happening.
- High Altitude Ballooning - We also have an active HAB (High Altitude Balloon) group that has plans to launch multiple payloads into the stratosphere later this year (~30-35 Kms above the earth). Drop by, learn more about the High Altitude Balloon project and see how best to help.
!!! Very Important !!!! - Please plan to be self sufficient in terms of hardware, power cables, internet access, Raspberry pi, Arduino, USB cables, etc. The Makerspace does provide limited access to hardware (Raspberry Pi, Arduino, electronic kits, etc.). There are no monitors, so best to bring along a portable touchscreen LCD.
We welcome makers of all ages, however if you are under 18 you will need to bring an adult along. Read up more about the group at https://melbourne-rpi.com.au, check out learning resources at [ https://www.kidzcancode.com/](https://www.kidzcancode.com/).
- If you are getting started with the Arduino or the Raspberry Pi and need help picking a kit, join us at the discord and we'll help you pick one.
- We recommend that you bring your Arduino, Raspberry Pi kits to the meetup. We will help you get started with your learning journey.
- You'll need to do the hard work, read the documentation and follow the tutorials. We'll do our best to point you in the right direction.
We keep in touch through discord. There are no costs to using, joining discord. Just download the client, setup an account and get chatting with the other makers at the Melbourne Raspberry Pi Makers Group - https://discord.gg/4FkrKJeNt5 .
Come, make, create, share & learn - Our meetups are a great opportunity to work on your project, ask questions, learn from others and share what you have learned with the others. Please bring along any projects you have built. The meetup is an opportunity to show off what you've built and seek help as required.
You will need to bring along -
- Your laptop with a Wifi hotspot for your Pi. Council internet access limits you to port 80/443.
- Raspberry Pi, Arduino, ESP8266, ESP32 etc. along with the electronics or robotics kit you purchased to explore the fundamentals of electronics with the Pi, Arduino.
- Bring along your robotics projects, doesn't matter if they are Arduino, Pi, ESP based. Showcase the work you've done.
- A USB power bank so you can power your Raspberry Pi, Arduino. There is power available at the library but just in case.
- A portable mini LCD / touch screen if you want to work on the Raspberry Pi or want us to help troubleshoot the Raspberry Pi.
- A USB 5v, 3A+ Power Adaptor for the Raspberry Pi 2/3/4. For those with ESP8266, ESP32 boards (NodeMCU, Wemo, etc.) a 5v, 2A power supply with a micro USB port is recommended. For those with an Arduino a 5v, 2A regulated power supply with a USB Type B is required.
- Ethernet cable if you have one and need to troubleshoot any connectivity issues with the Pi
Stay safe - Please take a couple of minutes to read the foundation guidelines at - http://rpf.io/safeguarding
