Abstract:
In this technical sharing session, Meng Chen will provide a comprehensive introduction to the recent advancements in dialogue system research and its industrial applications.

Initially, he will present his latest research on dialogue pre-training, published in ACL 2023 and CIKM 2023. Following this, he will share his practical experiences with industrial-grade dialogue systems, using the examples of a pre-sales e-commerce chatbot and a financial home loan chatbot. Meng Chen will detail the specific architecture and core module construction details of dialogue systems based on pre-training and large language models. Finally, he will summarize the opportunities and challenges faced by dialogue systems in the development of large language models.

Bio of Speaker:
Meng Chen, a seasoned professional in the field of artificial intelligence, has dedicated over a decade to industrial research and development. His expertise lies in applying cutting-edge AI technology to tackle real-world challenges. Having served as the Head of AI at YepHome, a proptech firm based in Melbourne, the AI Director at JD.COM, which is China's premier e-commerce retailer, and a Research Scientist at Nuance Communications, he has made substantial contributions to the successful creation and development of several commercial conversational AI products. These products have reached an extensive user base of over 500 million individuals and have been adopted by more than 100 enterprises.

In addition to his industry contributions, Meng Chen is an active participant in the academic community. He has published over 40 papers in prestigious academic conferences such as AAAI, IJCAI, ACM Multimedia, ACL, NAACL, ICASSP, Interspeech, and CIKM. He also serves as a Program Committee member for several top academic conferences including AAAI, ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, EACL, ICASSP, Interspeech, and ACM Multimedia. Meng Chen's dedication and contributions to the field of AI have been recognized with several awards. In 2023, he was honored with the Wuwenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Progress Award. He also received the Best Demo Award at ACM Multimedia in 2021. His passion and commitment to the field continue to drive his research and development efforts in artificial intelligence.
