Quiet Study & Reading Session at State Library Victoria

Join us for a relaxed study and reading session at State Library Victoria.
This is a low-pressure meetup for anyone who wants to spend a few focused hours studying, reading, learning something new, or working through an online course in a quiet and motivating environment.

I’m planning to start the free online course Astronomy with an online telescope for fun. It introduces the night sky, telescopes, and astronomical observations using an online robotic telescope.

You’re welcome to do the same course, or anything else you’d like to quietly work on.

This is not a formal class or teaching session. It’s more of a casual co-study / co-reading meetup where we can share a table, stay focused, and take breaks together.

There’s no pressure to be social the whole time, but we can chat during breaks, lunch, or dinner afterwards.

You can leave whenever you like, and you’re also welcome to arrive later. Just note that if you arrive later, you may not be able to get a seat right next to the group.

Rough timeline

• 9:45am – Meet at St George and the Dragon Statue
• 10:00am – Head inside State Library Victoria and find seats
• 10:00am–12:30pm – Study / read / work quietly
• Around 12:30pm – Optional lunch nearby
• After lunch – Continue studying / reading if people want to
• 6:00pm – State Library closes
• After 6:00pm – Optional dinner nearby

What to bring

• Laptop, tablet, book, notebook, or study materials
• Charger / power bank if needed
• Headphones if you like working with music or focus sounds
• Water bottle
• Anything else you need for a quiet study session

Important notes
Please arrive around 9:45am so we can say hello before heading inside when the library opens.

This will be a quiet meetup, so we’ll keep socialising mainly to breaks, lunch, and optional dinner afterwards.

Seats are not guaranteed, especially if the library is busy. We’ll do our best to find space together, but people arriving later may need to sit nearby rather than directly with the group.

You’re welcome to leave early or stay only for part of the day.
