Ethiopian Dinner at The Abyssinian Restaurant
Details
Join me for a relaxed group dinner at The Abyssinian, a much-loved spot serving slow-cooked food from the Horn of Africa right here in Melbourne. If you've never tried Ethiopian and Eritrean cooking, this is a lovely way to do it — in good company, sharing a plate the traditional way.
Ethiopian food is built for sharing. Dishes are served on a big communal platter lined with injera, a soft, slightly sour flatbread you tear and use to scoop up rich, spiced stews and vegetables — no cutlery needed. There's plenty for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike, and eating from the same plate has a warm, social feel that's perfect for a meetup.
We'll meet outside the restaurant at 6:15pm to say hello, head in together to grab our table and order around 6:25pm, then settle in for a good feed and a chat. We'll wrap up around 8:00pm.
Solo attendees are very welcome — this kind of shared meal is one of the easiest ways to meet people, so come along even if you don't know anyone.

Important notes
- This is a casual social meetup arranged so we can head along and eat together — it isn't run by, affiliated with, or endorsed by The Abyssinian.
- We haven't made a group booking, so please plan to order your own meal on the night; an RSVP here isn't a reservation or a guaranteed table.
- If your plans change, please update your RSVP so we've got a rough idea of numbers.
