South Melbourne to Frankston Coastal Bike Ride (50km or 100km Option)
Details
Join me for a big, scenic ride down the bay — South Melbourne all the way to Frankston, hugging the coast the whole way.
We'll meet outside the South Melbourne Life Saving Club at 8:45am for a quick hello, then roll out at 9:00am. The plan is a casual, social pace along the beach, staying together as a group with regroup points at the nice spots so no one gets left behind. We'll aim to reach Frankston around 12:30pm for a proper break and lunch.
From there you've got two options. Do the ~50km one-way and catch the train home from Frankston, or turn around and ride back for the full ~100km. Both are completely fine — pick whatever suits you on the day.
This is a long ride. Even at a relaxed pace, it's best suited to people who've done at least one 50–100km ride in the last few months.
Who this is for
- Riders with reasonable fitness who've recently done a 50km+ ride
- Anyone keen on a long, social day out along the coast rather than a workout or a race
- Solo riders very welcome — plenty of chatting along the way and at lunch
