Evening 5km Run Around Albert Park Lake
Details
Join me for a relaxed 5km run around Albert Park Lake. It's one of the easiest loops in Melbourne to run — flat, well-formed paths the whole way, water on one side, city skyline on the other, and no road crossings to break your rhythm.
We'll meet outside Sir Albert Cafe at 5:20pm for a quick hello, then set off at 5:30pm. Run it at whatever pace suits you — there's no group pace and no one at the front setting the tempo. The loop brings everyone back to the same spot, so we'll regroup at the cafe when you're done and grab an optional coffee together.
This isn't a race or a training session. Walk sections, take it easy, or push hard — all completely fine.
Who this is for
- Anyone who can comfortably cover 5km running, jogging, or with some walking
- Runners of any speed — you'll never be waiting on the group or chasing it
- Beginners are welcome; just come knowing you'll be doing your own pace
- Coming solo? Most people do. Say hi at the start and you'll have someone to sit with at the cafe afterwards

Cost
Free to join — the run costs nothing. If you stay for coffee afterwards, that's at your own expense and paid directly at the cafe.
Bring
- Running shoes and comfortable gear
- A warm layer for afterwards — it cools down quickly by the water
- Money or card if you're staying for coffee
- A light or something reflective if you'd like to be more visible as the sun goes down
Expect
- Difficulty: Easy — flat, sealed, well-maintained path
- Pace: Entirely your own; no group pace
- Vibe: Casual and social, not competitive
- Group style: Split up on the run, back together at the cafe
Important notes
- Early September in Melbourne means the light will be fading towards the end of the run. Paths around the lake are shared with walkers and cyclists, so stay aware and keep left.
- Please run within your own ability and take care on shared paths. You're joining at your own risk and you're responsible for your own safety and wellbeing on the day.
- The coffee afterwards is just us going along to Sir Albert Cafe as customers — this meetup isn't run by or affiliated with them, and everyone orders and pays for themselves.
- If your plans change, please update your RSVP so numbers stay clear.
