Discover Sailing Day at Beaumaris Yacht Club
Details
Join me for a morning on the water at Beaumaris Yacht Club's Discover Sailing Day! It's a chance to try sailing off the beach at Ricketts Point with an experienced skipper, and to see what a local sailing club is all about. The club says no experience is needed, so it's a great one if you've always wondered what sailing is like.
We'll meet at the gates of Beaumaris Yacht Club at 8:45am on Sunday 29 November, say hello, then head into the club's Discover Sailing session together from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Afterwards, anyone keen can join an optional lunch nearby at Rickett's Point Beaumaris – no pressure, so feel free to head off after the sailing if that suits you better.
This is a casual social meetup so we can head along together – it isn't run by or affiliated with Beaumaris Yacht Club or Australian Sailing. The session is free, but you'll need to register yourself directly with the club. A Meetup RSVP here doesn't register you for the session.
Who this is for
- Anyone curious about sailing – the club says no experience is needed
- People who are confident in and around the water (the club notes this is required for safety)
- Anyone keen to spend a Sunday morning on the bay and meet some new people
- Solo attendees are very welcome

- Pace: Relaxed – the club and its skippers run the session
- Vibe: Friendly, curious and low-pressure

Important notes
- Please register with the club before the day – an RSVP here isn't a registration and doesn't guarantee you a spot.
- The club notes participants must be confident in and around the water.
- Sailing depends on weather and conditions on the day, and the club may change or cancel things if it isn't safe. Keep an eye on the club's event page for updates.
- Please take part within your own ability and follow all club rules and skipper/staff instructions. You're joining at your own risk, and you're responsible for your own safety and wellbeing on the day.
- Lunch is optional – feel free to head off after the sailing. If you're staying, it helps to mention it in the comments so we have a rough idea of numbers for a table.
- If your plans change, please update your RSVP so numbers stay clear.
