Welcome to Tamils in Melbourne, a social Meetup group for Tamil makkal living in and around Melbourne.

Whether you’re an international student, working professional, new migrant, long-time resident, or simply someone looking to connect with the Tamil community here, this group is all about meeting people, making friends, socialising, and building a sense of community away from home.

Melbourne is a beautiful and welcoming city, but every now and then, many of us miss speaking Tamil, sharing our culture, celebrating festivals, eating together, or just being around people who understand our roots. That’s exactly why this group was created. Vaanga Pazhaguvom! 😊

If you are from Tamil Nadu, Sri Lanka or the Tamil Diaspora, if you speak or understand Tamil, or if you are just anyone interested this group gives you an opportunity to find your tribe and build your network with other Tamilians in the city.

We organise Tamil social events and community meetups across Melbourne including:

This group was inspired by the Melbourne Kannadigas Meetup Group so Kudos to them for setting an example!

Group Guidelines
1. We aim to organise 1–2 events every month depending on interest and participation.
2. We are always open to suggestions. If you’d like to host or organise something, feel free to contact the organisers.
3. Please RSVP as early as possible whenever you can it really helps with planning and organising events smoothly.
4. For community safety, membership approvals are limited to people aged 18+ with a clear profile photo.
5. This is not a dating group. The intention of this community is to help people socialise in Tamil, make genuine friendships, support one another, and build meaningful connections in Melbourne.
