We did this ride in Dec '25 and I thought let's try it again on Grand Final Day.
The route is slightly modified to navigate to lunch quicker (plus some other improvements) 😀

A bike ride of about 52 km from northwest of Melbourne back to the City. Some bike-lanes to start with and mostly paths after that. We'll have lunch in Caroline Springs where there's a good suburban bakery next to a good cafe, too.

Getting there: Make your own way there or join me on the 10:34 Sunbury train from Town Hall station in the City which arrives Keilor Plains at 11:08. You could pick it up prior to town at Caulfield or join at Footscray but not directly from Flinders St or Southern Cross (like last time in Dec '25).

Usually we get into the last carriage to travel together
but that's up to you so just be sure to meet us at Keilor Plains station by 11:15am on the Regan St side.

Forecast: Caroline Springs - 20°
Cloudy. Slight chance of a shower. Winds southerly 15 to 20 km/h.

Starting at Keilor Plains Station we first ride to Caroline Springs for lunch (8km) then visit Lake Caroline before winding our way back to town along picturesque Kororoit Creek Trail to Federation Trail and eventually the Dixon Veloway to finish at Jeff's Shed / Melbourne Exhibition Centre between 3:30 and 4pm.

Pace: 22-25 km/h typically. Let's keep everyone in sight :)
