Details

Blast Off
This 101 will remain open 24/7 but saturday night is for people to come together.

This is a prototype Kanata-themed VR dance project. The environments are being developped and positioned - this is a playground. The idea is to begin dancing with others in Virtual Reality, with a VR headset on, in a 3D immersive environment from Kanata.

There are no dance clubs in town, and near zero places for youth culture, so why not make it happen in VR from the comfort of a known place!

We can explore feature design ideas, such as how to make this a great local hub through great 3D scanning and how advanced technologies such as mixed-reality and A.I. might be used in this setting.

You may add your own local 3D objects to the space. We are looking for local DJs with music to add.

If you are a high Net Worth individual perhaps you have ideas for a real virtual night club? It seems the next generation will be big on this, we are five to ten years early.

This takes a lot of work to set up as is - but now that it's running, the rest is repeating until it's melting hot. Send feedback!

Tech Specs
You need a very good internet connection with your VR headset for this such as the Meta Quest 2 or a similar.

Sign up for a free account on spatial.io - this is the website for the VR experience. Spend a few minutes there browsing to get to know that there are public spaces people make. Consider making yourself an avatar.

Download the spatial app into your VR headset and login. Compare with website.

By signing-up for this event you get a link to the first unique Kanata dance room on spatial.io which you can enter on your laptop website first, and then see it in your VR headset as a recent room.

Let's see what can be built together over the summer of 2023!

Extra Notes
After your first setup, all you do is join the dancing in VR. Sign up for a workshop to learn to make your own hotbox to for dancing.

Alternatively you can join in a non-immersive way using your flatscreen laptop or another desktop computer, even through your smartphone app. This defeats the purpose of VR and is not the recommended experience but at least something can be seen and heard.

There is no designated speaker in the space, you can remain anonymous, or build your avatar and interact as you wish.
