About us
Welcome to our new Melton Mowbray and Leicestershire Meetup group
Walking and cycling are a key part of what we have planned but also meal and pub nights, cinema trips, gigs, coffee mornings and lunches and a whole host of other adventures.
Whatever you want to do in the local area is something we hope to make available in a group of up for it, like minded individuals.
We are also associated with another non profit Meetup group which organises Peak District Day Walks and Weekends Away all over the country so expect to see some of those as well.
Whilst in the long run we shall introduce a subscription model for the group to share the cost of essential expenses, the first TWO HUNDRED to attend an event will immediately become LIFE MEMBERS without any membership cost at all. For the time being no founders participating in this initial stage of the groups development will ever need to pay a subscription at all.
Like anything new, it will take a while to get the cogs turning so don't be shy, pitch in and join in as a participant or as an event organiser, you'll be made very welcome.

Great Shacklow Woods and the Monsal Trail
Monsal Head car park, Nr Bakewell, Derbyshire, DE45 1NL, GBMeeting in the P & D car park at Monsal Head we are also able to park FOC on the adjacent lane into Little Longstone.
We start the walk by heading first to Ashford in the Water and then through Shacklow Woods and Deepdale towards Taddington where a pub stop is possible before heading towards Millers Dale and the Monsal Trail to take us back to the start.
Please take LOTS of pictures and upload them to this Meetup page so everyone can see how much fun you had.
Dogs are welcome as long as not constantly barking and jumping up. Owners must keep dogs under control at all times and place on a lead when near farm animals or signs tell us to do so.
Bring snacks, fluids and a lunch packup. Waterproofs would be a good idea too.
Lift sharing is strongly encouraged, just leave a message below if offering or asking for a lift.
Please plenty of time for parking and kitting up just in case and share transport if you can.

Five Peaks Walk from Longnor
Longnor Market Place Car park, Longnor SK17 0NT,, Staffordshire, GBYou definitely don't want to miss this one. One of the best walks in the Peak District.
As you can see, a bit up and down!
The walk includes High Wheeldon, Hitter Hill, Parkhouse Hill, Chrome Hill and Hollins Hill. Lovely!
Dogs not so great on this walk especially on Parkhouse Hill so if you bring one, may have to leave that hill out. (there is a get around).
