Summer Solstice Sunrise Weekend on Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa)

Why not bring out the druid in you and celebrate the sunrise on Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) at the moment of the Summer Solstice, a spellbinding occasion which can be shared with many others each year and a great memory that will last forever. This is always on the 21st June and this year fortuitously this is on a Sunday making it perfect for a weekend away.

We are just so lucky to have got accommodation on one of the main paths up the mountain.

In England and Wales most of the properties we use for exclusive hire are provide by the YHA but as they have sold off properties each year seemingly ever more desperately and charged ever more outrageous prices for those remaining we are now increasingly looking elsewhere to properties like this one the Watkins Bunkhouse.

This is a National Trust property fitted out to a high standard and right alongside the Watkins Path which goes directly to the summit of the mountain. Amazing!

Apart from the Solstice Celebration, our plans are to make a real weekend of it with excursions to Moel Hebog, Y Garn and the Glyders (Foel and Fach), Tryfan and the Carnedds with easier options for those who need that.

Help yourself breakfasts and lunch packups are provided as is hot food Friday, Saturday and Sunday night but feel free to bring desserts, cakes and other goodies to share as well as your own alcoholic drinks. Tea and coffee will be provided.

Accommodation is single sex bunk rooms of a variety of sizes with pillows, bottom sheet and pillowcase provided but NOT duvets/sleeping bags or towels so please bring these with you.

Saturday, Sunday and Monday routes will be discussed with everyone on arrival to ensure we are meeting overall expectations but on this weekend there are many routes we could choose from, so something for everyone.

Your place on this very special and amazing trip can be reserved with just £25 non-refundable deposit to which must be added Meetup Booking Fees plus a balance of £74 payable via BACS 12 weeks before the event being 27th March 2026.
