Canva for Authors (and the Design-Curious)

You don’t need to be a designer to create beautiful, professional-looking visuals for your author life.

This is a beginner-friendly class on how to use Canva for simple, effective designs—perfect for authors who want to create book promos, social media graphics, event flyers, and more.

We'll cover:

• Basic Canva navigation: What’s where, how to find what you need, and simple tools you’ll use again and again
• Using templates to save time: For social media posts, event announcements, newsletter graphics, and more
• Book cover mockups: Whether you’re creating a draft to pitch or playing with ideas for self-publishing
• Personal branding for authors: Fonts, colors, and images that reflect your unique voice
• Practical demos: I’ll build a few designs live. Watch, soak it in, then try it yourself using the video later.

Note: This is a basics class. We won’t be covering advanced design theory or complex graphics work. Although it’s hosted by Memoir Mentors, there’s nothing memoir-specific; it’s useful for anyone who wants to learn more about using Canva.

Whether you're launching a book or just dipping your toe into building a creative platform, this class is meant to empower you—no design experience required.
