Hiking - Total change of location

Details
I would like to show you the outdoors areas of Mendocino College. We'll walk the edge of the property line beginning at the tennis courts. There will be some uneven ground, and some places that have springs that make the ground soggy. It's quite a beautiful campus and hillside. Wear your best boots with ankle support and be ginger on your feet. Bring your hiking poles!
We'll start by going straight west, up beside the water tower, and then follow the fence line to the south, where will see the "new" emergency exit road. and then we'll walk down the hill towards the old frisbee golf course. about there, we're crossing the Hensley Creek Road and will walk around the horticulture gardens. I was able to make a 2 mile loop at Mendocino college without going on the road. But, if at any point we're too hot, the road, is really close and we can find flat ground.
Wear a hat, bring water, and please use hiking poles, sun glasses. The ground can be uneven, Wear boots that can take brief steep slippery slopes. Poison Oak is there but usually just at ground level. Wear light colored clothes - the better to see ticks. NO DOGS on campus.
The old-timers who rode horses in this area called the hill to the north/west of the college "rattlesnake hill". As with everywhere in Mendocino county, watch your step!!! One time a baby rattler was in the building where I teach piano. I think we're as safe outside as inside!
RSVP and we'll wait for 11am to make sure you're there. After, if you like, we can purchase a snack at the Schat's bakery restaurant at the center of campus.

Every week on Monday until May 18, 2025
