The link is the home page of the book. It's all about Yosemite which is glaciated rock, and how it's now shaped by fire. I heard about this book from a Geologist who is in Chico and who posts youtube videos about wildfires, floods, and his day job is mapping all that.

The first time I took a Yosemite week-long backpack with the Sierra Club national outings, (age 28) we hiked through Echo Canyon which was burning. The Merced river flows through Echo Canyon and then goes over Nevada falls, then Vernal falls, and down into the famous valley floor. I was not scared walking through a high country wildfire, it was the most normal thing to do. Blackened trees, and some smoldering, and steaming. All caused by lightening strikes.

I invite you to join me in reading this non-fiction. I like the Galley Book Store in Mendocino. Mendocino Book Company in Ukiah and The Book Juggler in Willits as good sources, as is the Mendocino County Library.

The photo above is from a May meetup at Mendocino College, the local public community college. This meetup is intended to have a little academic edge.

Let's plan on reading the book within a month. I will re-post chapters when I get my copy. This book is not available on Amazon. the above link leads you to purchase the pdf copy. Mendocino Book Company agreed to order it for me.

About our walking - On June 19, we still walked 2 miles, climbed 300 feet, but we stopped and looked when inspired. We have our apps to identify things, and had fun looking at the oaks. It's nice when we have a book to share about as we walk. Another time we walked 2 miles, and then some took off, and we walked another 2 miles. Mostly we stroll.
