Music with Shabang Steel Drums
Belle Haven Library, Belle Haven Community Campus, 100 Terminal Ave., Menlo Park, ca, USImagine the sand between your toes as you enjoy the engaging Caribbean steel drum music of Harry Best & Shabang!
This duo's melodies will sweep you off on a virtual island vacation, full of the infectious rhythms of calypso, reggae, zouk, and soca music.
About Harry Best:
A native of the Caribbean island nation of St. Lucia, Harry Best is a prolific songwriter who formed his band Shabang in 1995. The group utilizes its Caribbean steel drums to perform a wide variety of exciting dance and concert tunes, with music ranging from infectious Afro-Caribbean rhythms of reggae, calypso, soca, bossa, samba and salsa to engrossing arrangements of jazz and popular standards. Affectionately known as "pans," steel drums are handcrafted and finely-tuned from 55-gallon oil barrels.

African Drum Circle with Mister Boom Boom
Belle Haven Library, Belle Haven Community Campus, 100 Terminal Ave., Menlo Park, ca, USStep into the circle and feel the beat in Mister Boom Boom’s African Drum Circle, an immersive, hands-on musical journey that brings the power and spirit of African drumming to life—while connecting its influence to rhythms and instruments from around the world.
This high-energy program centers around the djembe, the heart of West African rhythm, and expands to include a dynamic collection of global percussion instruments, including bongos, cajon, and more, that trace their roots back to African traditions.
About Mister Boom Boom:
Mister Boom Boom, also known as Frank Coates, is an accomplished music educator, multi-instrumentalist, children’s author, and owner of Play Patrol. His YouTube channel, Mister Boom Boom’s Music Room, introduces children to the world of music and percussion.

National Civil Rights Museum: Declassifying King
·OnlineOnlineThe assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. changed the course of American History. Learn about Dr. King’s final moments in Memphis, Tennessee in April 1968 and the subsequent investigations and inquiries into his death.
In July 2025, an Executive Order declassified over 243,000 files related to the assassination of Dr. King.
Join Ryan Jones, the Director of History at the National Civil Rights Museum as he unpacks the assassination and the lingering conspiracy questions.
About the National Civil Rights Museum:
Established in 1991, the National Civil Rights Museum is located at the former Lorraine Motel, where civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated on April 4, 1968. Through interactive exhibits, historic collections, dynamic speakers and special events, the museum offers visitors a chance to walk through history and learn more about a tumultuous and inspiring period of change.
