## We meet to practise and rehearse for our performances where audiences are invited to share stories from their lives and the actors and musicians reflect them back. It is lots of fun and also offers a chance to gain insight into one's own experiences in life. Come as you are, no previous improvisation experience needed. All are welcome, there is no audition and you will be guided towards developing playback skills, by our experienced actors, from ‘The Drunken Sailor’ Playback Theatre Company.
## You will learn by practicing and rehearsing playback theatre techniques in this exhilarating and interactive workshop where you will experience being a performer, as well as being an active part of the audience. (you are also very welcome as an audience member only) It really is a lot of fun and also offers a chance to share your stories with others who are really listening to you.
## In a playback event, someone in the audience tells a moment or story from their life, and sometimes even chooses the actors to play the different roles, and then all those present watch the enactment, as the story "comes to life" with artistic shape and nuance. Actors draw on naturalistic as well as non-naturalistic styles to convey meaning, such as metaphor or song.
## We basically create performances without a script or a score; and we do not consult or "huddle" prior to beginning the performance, trusting instead in a shared understanding of the story, we have carefully all listened to, whilst also connecting instinctively and responding to each other's cues.
We look forward to welcoming you to our relaxed and fun workshop.
Warm wishes from all of us at 'A Drunken Sailor' Playback Theatre Company.
