Somatic Workshop: 8 Tools for Nervous System Regulation
Details
Facilitated by Kelsey Wynman
These are tools you can use next week. In this one-hour workshop, we'll work through eight body-based techniques for nervous system regulation and trauma processing. Grounded in somatic and polyvagal theory, and simple enough to bring into most sessions right away.
As always, we'll begin with exchanging referral information. Then, we'll move through each technique together: brief teaching, then practice. By the end, you'll have done all eight, not just heard about them. We'll also spend real time discussing how you bring somatic work into sessions without overstepping your training or your clients' consent.
We'll cover:
- Vestibular techniques for emotional regulation (rocking, gentle movement)
- Eye-based interventions to shift autonomic states
- Vocalization and sound for vagal regulation and release
- Self-holding and deep pressure to create a felt sense of safety
- Bilateral stimulation for integration
- Completing the stress response cycle
- Breathwork variations for rapid nervous system shifts
- Temperature-based interventions to regulate activation and shutdown
We'll walk away with:
- A downloadable guide of all eight techniques
- Enough practice that you actually remember how to do them
- A clearer read on when to reach for these tools, and when not to
