Walk along the Palmiet river enjoying the outdoors and great company. Join Nicole and Kevin as we walk to the river beach and stop for a swim / picnic before returning. Approximately 10 km -a beginner friendly walk. Please obtain permit from 087 087 8250 or 087288 0499 Cape nature at R60 Per person. R40 guest fee for non Meridian Hiking Club members. Meet 10 am at visitors centre inside the reserve.
Bring water, hat and sunblock.
The Palmiet River Walk starts from the parking by the reception at Kogelberg Nature Reserve. It’s about 1.5 hours drive from central Cape Town via the scenic R44. The turnoff to Kogelberg Nature Reserve is well-signed from the main road, and the last 2.5 km are along a good dirt road through the reserve.
Palmiet River is a river located in the Western Cape province of South Africa. The Palmiet River is a typical Western Cape river, experiencing winter rainfall and it is important for the Western Cape Water Supply System. It has a small catchment area of 500 km2, flows through the expanse of the Elgin Valley, and reaches the ocean through an estuary.
