Fernkloof Nature Reserve, Hermanus. INTERMEDIATE LEVEL HIKE.

Details
Fernkloof Nature Reserve covers 18 square kilometres in the Kleinrivier Mountains in Hermanus and ranges in altitude from sea level to 824 m. The main vegetation here is fynbos, which comprises 0.002% of the Cape Floral Kingdom but contains 18% of its plants in just 18 square kilometres. There is no other place on earth where so many different species can be seen growing in such close proximity.
There is a group of Meridians camping at Onrus and we will try and do a hike that uses a few of the trails. The route will hopefully include a visit to the viewpoint at the top of Lemoenkop, a visit to the first of the three dams, and a walk through the forest to a waterfall. We will have beautiful scenic views over Hermanus, the Overberg region, and the coast (weather permitting). Maximum height elevation will be 300 m on well marked gravel trails.
This is a 2BC graded route.
