Elephant's Eye Silvermine Gate 1

Our meeting spot is at the parking near the Silvermine Dam entering the reserve via Gate 1.
There are two routes that will lead up up to the cave and we can decide on the day.
One takes up the jeep track to the path that leads to the old fire lookout hut and then a steep path up to the cave where it will be time to take a break and enjoy the views. The other one is via the Crags which is a steep uphill path, with a bit of rock hopping, but with interesting rock formations and exceptional views over False Bay. Our return will be via the jeep track.
A fair amount of fitness is required and there is exposure as we make our ascend to the cave.
Make sure that you bring water, a hat, a jacket and sun block.
Entrance to Silvermine is R44.00 (cash only) with South African ID. Activity Cards, a Green Cards, Wild Cards are accepted.
A guest fee of R40.00 is payable for non Meridian Members.
