Ready to build your very first Atlassian app? This session is your “Hello World” moment with Forge.
In this hands-on 1.5-hour virtual workshop, we’ll walk step-by-step through setting up your development environment and deploying a working app to a live Jira or Confluence Cloud instance. By the end of the session, every participant will have a deployed Forge app visible inside a Jira issue.
If you’ve ever wondered how apps appear inside Jira tickets, Confluence pages, or the Atlassian sidebar—this is where it all begins.
No prior Forge experience required. Just bring your laptop and readiness to build.

8:00 – 8:15 PM | Introduction to Atlassian Cloud 🌩️
• What is a Jira Issue?
• What is a Confluence Page?
• Where do Apps live? (Sidebar, Issue Glance, Macros)
• Understanding the Atlassian Cloud ecosystem
8:15 – 9:00 PM | Live Setup: The Installation Party 🛠️
Step-by-step guided setup:
• Create a free Atlassian Developer account
• Spin up a free Jira/Confluence Cloud development site
• Install Node.js
• Install Forge CLI (npm install -g @forge/cli)
• Run forge login

9:00 – 9:30 PM | First Deploy: Your App Goes Live 🎉
• Run forge create (UI Kit → Jira Issue Panel template)
• Run forge deploy
• Run forge install
• Open a Jira ticket and see your app appear
