See the Cougar Shadow on the Superstition Mountains
Details
See the cougar shadow on Superstitions Mountains in Apache Junction. You can see my photo from about 3 years ago. This shadow appears during the 3rd week in March right before sunset. Many locals gather at the side of the S. Goldfield Road with their cameras to photograph this unique event. I read that the final cougar shape will show up about 5:30 to 6:00 pm, but you can see it forming slowly for a while before. I remember the shadow being after 6:00 pm but better to be early than miss it.
It is not required to bring your phone camera or other camera with a regular or telephoto lens, but many people do. If you come early, I will use my photographic knowledge to answer any photography questions you have.
Sometimes, clouds at sunset time block the shadow, and it is not a perfect cougar showing, but the forecast is for clear skies Tuesday. This is a local (Phoenix area) fun and cool thing to do.
