What we’re about
At Unity Syracuse, our evolving spiritual DNA invites us into a deeper, more holistic way of engaging Scripture. One that honors the mind, nurtures the soul, and supports the seeker on their sacred journey. This Meetup group reflects that new direction: an open, thoughtful, experiential Metaphysical Bible Study grounded in the New Testament and supported by the metaphysical resources of truthunity.net and fillmore.org
This study is for anyone longing for a Christianity that is deeper, kinder, more spacious, and more whole.

## What Is Metaphysical Christianity?
Metaphysical Christianity is a stream within the Christian tradition that looks beneath the literal surface of Scripture to uncover the inner meaning, soul dynamics, and spiritual psychology present in every biblical story.
Rather than asking only, “What happened?” metaphysical Christianity also asks:
- What is happening in me?
- What does this story reveal about the soul’s journey?
- How does this text invite me toward healing, wholeness, and living a Christ-centered life?
This approach honors Scripture as living wisdom, a text that speaks to our inner life, our spiritual development, and the universal patterns of growth found in every human story.

### The Ex-Vangelical or Faith-Rebuilder
Those healing from religious trauma or looking to reclaim Jesus outside of fear-based theology. Here you will find a compassionate, non-coercive community where questions are welcome and wholeness is central.
Together, we engage the New Testament not as a rulebook, but as a transformative map of the inner life.

## A Brief History of Unity & Our Cofounders
Unity was founded in the late 1800s by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, two spiritual pioneers who believed that:
- The teachings of Jesus describe a universal spiritual pattern available to every person.
- Prayer, meditation, and spiritual practice lead to healing and transformation.
- Scripture invites us into an inner experience of God, not blind belief.
Myrtle Fillmore’s personal healing journey through affirmative prayer ignited the movement. Charles Fillmore’s deep study of the Bible, world religions, metaphysics, and practical Christianity shaped Unity into a tradition that embraces mystical insight, intellectual curiosity, and practical spirituality.
Their work continues today through Unity’s global ministries and online resources such as TruthUnity, offering tools for seekers who desire a Christianity rooted in healing, inner growth, and spiritual freedom.
