"Spiritual" Living: Discussing the Challenges to What, Why & How

Details

What does it mean to live 'spiritually' in a world increasingly shaped by science, speed, and skepticism?

At its core, spiritual living means aligning one’s daily life with deeper values—compassion, wonder, presence, gratitude, and connection to something greater than the self. It's not confined to religion, doctrine, or rituals, but embraces practices like mindfulness, ethical action, contemplation, service, gratitude, to promote inner growth.

The goal of spiritual living is to cultivate meaning and resilience in the face of suffering and uncertainty, to foster a more harmonious relationship with others and the natural world, and to remain rooted in purpose beyond material gain, always in balance. Yet in this secular age, challenges abound: the reduction of life to algorithms and economies, the loneliness of disconnection, the distrust of mystery, and the marginalization and defamation of inner experience. Living spiritually today requires both courage and creativity—honoring science without losing soul to discover the sacred in the ordinary. It’s not about belief: it's about creative aim and becoming.

"Come with open Hearts and Minds. Leave with a wider sense of who you are —where you've been, and what you are becoming."
