Cascade Falls Winter Hike and Dinner at The Foundry

The falls should be frozen at this time. This is a moderate hike. You should be experienced in hiking on snow covered and icy trails. We will start at the West Falls and then go by car to the East Falls before having dinner.
Cascade Park offers rivers, waterfalls, and hemlock forests just minutes from downtown Elyria. Inside this 145-acre park the east and west branches of the Black River cascade over Berea sandstone converge.
Cascade Park has trails for all park visitors. The park’s trail diverse trail system features beautiful views of the Black River throughout. The asphalt trail overlooks the river while connecting the park’s two playgrounds. The park’s towering waterfalls can be viewed by traveling along asphalt trails that overlook the ledges or on the primitive, natural trails among the ledges that include wooden bridges and rocks to climb. The trails can be accessed via the main entrance parking lot near the large playground.
The hike is easy to moderate with some stairs to climb. We will view both falls. After the hike we will have dinner at The Foundry in Elyria.
