What we're about

The Metro DC Wine Lovers group brings together lovers of food and wine.

We organize wine tastings, happy hours, classes, and tours worldwide. It doesn't matter if you're new and want to learn more about wine, interested in discovering great local and international vintages, or want to meet new friends who share your passion...this is the group for you!

The Metro DC Wine Lovers group is built on values that we not only respect our local hosts and communities, but each other. The age for this group is 25 and up and both newbie wine lovers and season oenophiles are welcomed. However, the Organizers reserves the right to remove individuals from the group for lack of participation, inappropriate behavior, and actions not in the best interests of the group.

Again, the main purpose of the Metro DC Wine Lovers group is to bring people together who have a passion for wine and are interested in sharing their passion. We are about creating friendship while exploring the wonderful world of wine.

Finally, please have an image of your actual face. Because we are a group that meets in person, we need to see who you are to welcome you at the events. Thanks in advance.

Chrysalis Vineyards - Middleburg, VA

Chrysalis Vineyards at The Ag District

Time for another wine experience in Middleburg, VA. This time we will visit Chrysalis Vineyards. Their mission is to, "To proudly restore Virginia wines to world renown, and celebrate the homecoming of Norton, The Real American Grape!®”

ABOUT THE VENUE: "Chrysalis Vineyards is about growing Norton, along with other tested European varieties, which thrive in our soils and climate. Our mission is to produce wines of such distinction that they stand solely on their own merits as world-class wines, without any further explanation or excuse (you know, the old “Well, this is pretty good for a Virginia ___.”). And Norton is from here… it’s ours… our own native Virginia grape, Vitis aestivalis. How cool is that? We think very much so."

"And “here” means this beautiful land, with its deep and long history of productive agriculture. “Here” is this place that has kept its soul and beauty throughout the centuries and is now blossoming again with new agriculture, after a painfully long decline. We take great pride in being part of this laudable effort to restore and revive the productivity of our lands, to again be known, albeit now in a modern sense, but nonetheless similar to when George Washington called Loudoun County “the breadbasket of the American Revolution”.

The idea of restoring and celebrating the agricultural productivity of this land through responsible stewardship, offering its bounty to our friends and neighbors in a fun and educational way, and again growing our wonderful native “gem” Norton... Virginia’s real contribution to the world’s great red wines… is what we’re all about."

Tasting & Restaurant Details: They offer self-guided tastings which consist of four 1.5 oz pours of wines selected from their current tasting list. Little River Bakehouse offers pizza and other hot food menu items. We also have artisan cheeses from Locksley Farmstead Cheese, crackers, dips, spreads, bread and more!
