Wine/Mead Chess Tournament
Details
This month we're giving a nod to our classier friends with a Wine/Mead Chess Tournament (21+ only). Bring your own wine (BYOW) and the game is played with standard chess rules (which we're happy to teach) except every time your opponent captures one of your pieces you have to drink according to this chart:
- Pawn - 1 sip
- Knight - 3 sips
- Bishop - 3 sips
- Rook - 5 sips
- Queen - 9 sips
For the first round of the tournament adhering to the above chart is mandatory, however, for safety reasons in subsequent rounds we may reduce the portions while keeping the ratios the same. Feel free to bring a personal wine glass if you're classy like that if not we have plastic party cups you can use instead.
Dress Code: classy or trashy. Think what you would wear to a fancy party while trying to impress your loved ones, or the clothes that would keep you from getting in to said party.
This is occurring during a much larger Metro Detroit Game Night event (the Wine & Unwind Party) so when you get inside just look around the main floor for people playing chess or ask around for the host (Big O) who will be wearing a name tag to sign up for the tournament. Please note there are no shoes allowed on inside (except medical boots) but you're welcome to bring your own clean slippers if you like. Please park on the nearby side street to the Southeast called Irval Drive. No parking on the grass.
• Important to know
Our goal is for everyone to have fun and be safe. If you have any issues whatsoever please let the host (Big O) know. Harassment or disrespect of any kind will not be tolerated. If you can't get a ride, afford a rideshare, or crash until you're under the limit to drive home don't come. Please note that due to COVID-19 you must be COVID-19 free and symptom / recent exposure free to attend our events, no exceptions.
