Getting Brutal(ist)* – Fall 2025

Join me for an evening of long exposure architectural photography at the brutalist masterpiece, Simon Fraser University, designed by Arthur Erickson.
This monumental work is one of Erickson’s most famous designs, celebrated since the 1960s for its dramatic use of concrete, natural materials, and strategically placed mosaics. The campus has been the backdrop for numerous films, including The Fly II (1988), Antitrust, Agent Cody Banks, The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Interview, and more.
During our photo walk, we’ll explore:

• Academic Quadrangle
• Convocation Mall
• West Mall

We’ll arrive in time for golden hour, capture the sunset, and finish during blue hour, giving us 1.5–2 hours of shifting light to create dramatic, illuminated images.

So grab your camera, and let’s make some architectural magic together!

✨ How to Save Your Spot

• Step 1 — RSVP:
• Click RSVP to add your name to the list.
• Step 2 — Secure Your Spot:
• To hold your place, please send an e-transfer to **clazarschuler@icloud.com** within 24 hours of your RSVP.
• Prefer to pay in cash at the event? No problem — just email to arrange this within 24 hours.
• If payment isn’t received (or arrangements aren’t made), your spot will be released to the next person waiting.
• Step 3 — Confirmation:
• Once your payment is received, you’ll get a confirmation email. 🎉

📸 What to Bring

• Extra batteries & memory cards — the event won’t pause if your gear runs out.
• Optional gear: ND filters, tripod.
• Come prepared so you can make the most of the day!

🧡 Health & Safety

• We want everyone to feel safe and comfortable. Please:
• Stay home if you have symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, muscle aches, or severe headache.
• Cancel your RSVP and let the organizer know if you can’t make it.
• Be mindful of personal space and the comfort levels of others.

**These are simple, common-sense guidelines. Anyone unable to follow them may be asked to leave the event.**

🚫 No-Shows

• If you RSVP but can’t attend, let us know as soon as possible so we’re not waiting for you.
• A no-show without notice will result in a warning.
• Repeated no-shows may lead to removal from the group.
