EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Hohenstaufen castle ruins
Emperor Frederick Barbarossa stayed here in 1181.
Unfortunately, the castle was destroyed during the Peasants' War.
The view is still magnificent today: deep below us is the densely built-up Filstal valley, behind it the main chain of the Alb, further on we can see the Teck, the Hohenneuffen and the Achalm in the distance. Today, a documentation center at the foot of the mountain commemorates the history of the castle and the Staufer dynasty.

Also known as Büren Castle, is also worthwhile on our tour. Together with the village of Wäschenbeuren, it is considered the cradle of the Staufer dynasty.
