Battle to Hastings and Bonfire (15 miles/Strenuous)
Details
Metropolitan Walkers is part of the Ramblers, Britain's walking charity. All welcome for 3 'taster' walks, after which please join the Ramblers - info on the Met Walkers website
The route will follow much of the 1066 trail up until lunchtime with a choice of pub and cafe. The walk becomes more strenuous as we then follow the hilly coastline with rewarding views as we make our finish into Hastings. There will be a bonfire procession in the evening which normally starts around 8pm.
Please bring a packed lunch.
Travel: Take the 9:15 Charing Cross (9:24 London Bridge), arr. Battle 10:43. Buy return to Hastings, unless you are staying overnight for the Sunday walk after the bonfire. Please note you will need to catch a rail replacement bus from Hastings to Battle for the train back to London.
Grading: Strenuous.
For an explanation of the gradings, please see the FAQ - please consider both the length and grade when choosing a walk.
Finish point: Hastings
