The series finale is the only foray south of the Thames. Through streets and parkland, the route passes Shirley Windmill, then climbs to take in the view back over the city. From there, it joins a stretch of the London Loop, before turning south and west across the edge of the North Downs, to a final descent and the chance of a celebratory drink in Whyteleafe. Please bring packed lunch.
Terrain: Fields, woods, lanes, urban stretches.
Travel: Use TfL Journey Planner to get to the start on time. Southbound train required arrives 9:31 (originates Highbury & Islington 8:49). Northbound train required arrives 9:27 (originates West Croydon 9:18). Meet by the exit from the southbound platform (2) to Anerley Station Road. For the return journey, trains from Whyteleafe run to London Bridge. Direct trains to London Victoria are available from Upper Warlingham, less than a quarter of a mile away. Use Oyster/contactless.
