Sallying Into Suffolk (15 miles/Moderate)
Details
Metropolitan Walkers is part of the Ramblers, Britain's walking charity. All welcome for 3 'taster' walks, after which please join the Ramblers - info on the Met Walkers website
Beginning in Ipswich, this walk explores the pretty countryside and villages of South Suffolk before hopping across the border into Essex to end at Manningtree. The region is famously flat so there will be no hills.
Afternoon pub stop for drinks only. Optional pub stop at the end.
Bring a packed lunch and a torch.
Travel: Take the 10:00 from London Liverpool Street, arrive in Ipswich at 11:05.
Buy a return to Ipswich.
Alternative option for Network Railcard Holders: Ipswich lies just outside of the Network Railcard area, so if you have one it is significantly cheaper to buy a off-peak return to Manningtree (which is within the area) and then a single from Manningtree to Ipswich.
Grading: Moderate.
For an explanation of the gradings, please see the FAQ - please consider both the length and grade when choosing a walk.
Finish point: Manningtree Station
