7 Miles Through the 70s (7 miles/Leisurely)
Details
Metropolitan Walkers is part of the Ramblers, Britain's walking charity. All welcome for 3 'taster' walks, after which please join the Ramblers - info on the Met Walkers website
We begin by winding our way down on Baker St like Gerry Rafferty did in 1978. Then we will head to Hyde Park, the site of Queen's biggest UK concert in 1976. The south side of Hyde Park will take us past a Rose Garden which Lynn Anderson didn't promise us in 1970.
We will then go down (Susan) Cadogan St who Hurt So Good in 1975 which brings us to Chelsea, the place Elvis Costello didn't want to go to in 1978. Staying in 1978 we will go through Battersea Park where The Stranglers played their infamous gig that year.
Finally we will end out on the windy common, the place it happened for Squeeze and the girl from Clapham in 1979. Unfortunately there is no Railway Arms in Clapham Common, but we will end in a real pub in the area where everyone is welcome for a drink.
Please note there will be no lunch stop on this walk.
We will be leaving promptly at 1pm so allow plenty of time to arrive on time.
