Walking with Dinosaurs: Forest Hill to Crystal Palace
Details
Metropolitan Walkers is part of the Ramblers, Britain's walking charity. All welcome for 3 'taster' walks, after which please join the Ramblers - info on the Met Walkers website
Starting from Forest Hill Station we’ll set off towards the Horniman Museum and Gardens to take in the views across the city. We’ll then head through Sydenham Woods and Wells Park to the south section of Crystal Palace Park, where we’ll take a turn round the lake to see the dinosaurs! For those that would like to join, the walk will then end in a local pub.
Renovated this year to their former glories, the dinosaurs were built in the 1850s as part of the original Crystal Palace. Although once described as 'comically incorrect', the dinosaurs nevertheless hold an important place in the history of palaeontology.
