Rambling in Metroland (13 miles/Moderate)

Loosely recreating a route from the cover of a 1920s Metropolitan Railways leaflet 'Rambles in Metroland', which is now available as a poster in the London Underground Museum shop, this walk explores part of the Chiltern AONB taking in some of the South Bucks Way and passing through typical Metroland villages.

We will have a lunch stop on the common at Hyde Heath with optional pub, heading through the village we go through woodland, re-cross the railway, and re-join the South Bucks Way through Amersham Old Town then on to the tube station.

The walk will end with a visit to the Mad Squirrel Tap.

Please bring a packed lunch.

Travel: Take the 10:27 from London Marylebone (10:39 Harrow-on-the-Hill, 11:03 Amersham), arr. 11:10 Great Missenden.

Buy return to Great Missenden (or single + use Oyster/contactless).

Meet outside of the main entrance to Great Missenden Station.
