Historic Railway and Bruswick Mall Goodbye Hike
Details
Join us for this point to point hike in the suburbs of New Brunswick New Jersey, which will feature at the end a visit to the Brunswick Mall, which is going to get ripped down. It might be the last chance to see the landmark, and so our hike will go through it at the end.
The route will be different depending on whether or not there is snow on the ground.
Either way, we will be meeting at the mall. We then shuttle with as few vehicles as possible to our start point. Park at the north side of the mall near Firestone.
As planned, we are going to do trails and back streets parallel with the former Camden and Amboy Railroad. We've tried to do bits of this as a series, and so we'll be getting back to it here.
We'll start by walking a trail along the Raritan Bay waterfront a bit, then start heading inland. Although there are back streets, there should be good opportunities for other stuff, and there will be side trips though parks and cemeteries along the way.
It's sure to be an interesting trip, with a couple of potential stops for food along the way.
I'm planning for about 12.5 miles and we'll make up the remaining mileage in the mall at the end. The hike is planned for Saturday to take advantage of the later open hours at the mall that day.
