Join us for this point to point hike, the sixth in our series to trace the historic Main Line of Public Works route!
This time, we will be traveling between Bird In Hand and Lancaster.
Meet at 8:30 am at the Lombardo Welcome Center on Harrisburg Avenue.
From there, we shuttle east with as few vehicles as possible
Like the last one, this one will involve some parallel road walking, but it will get much more interesting as we explore the route. We'll also do some side trips on some trails.
We'll look at where the station used to be at the start, then make our way along back roads, and do a side trip through East Lempeter Twp Park.
As we get closer to Lancaster proper, it gets much more interesting as we deviate from backroads onto development paths, some we've done before, and make our way onto the original P&C right of way through town. We'll continue on this pretty much to the end, and much of it is now trail.
IF for some reason there is a ton of snow on the ground, the hike will change, and we will instead shuttle nearby and do a back road walk tracing some of the old Quarryville Branch that we'd not done yet.
If needed, contact me at 908 343 8374.
