Join us for this point to point hike, the final one in our effort to hike the entire historic route of the Philadelphia and Columbia Railroad!
This time, we will hike between Lancaster and Columbia. The route features back roads and trails as well, which include a couple of side trips.
We'll shuttle to our start point, and walk by the current station. We'll pick up the historic P&C route briefly, maybe with a side trip on a university property, then make our way through Brubaker Park and Noel Dorwart Park. These parks connect and will take us parallel to the active tracks.
We'll take a side trip to view a splendid rail bridge on this system.
We'll head onto some streets and then onto some more paved trails, transitioning between the two where the original P&C again diverges from the still active tracks. The original route is much different into Columbia which will take us along back streets to the site of the inclined plane.
We then follow where the canal had been to the end.
